Watts Tower has cost $6 million over the last 18 years and still requires more than $5 million in repair?

$6.2 million has been spent on the towers' upkeep since 1991 -- about $3 million each from the city and the state, and $155,000 in grants from private foundations, according to the LA Times.

Wetlands soon to grace South Los Angeles



Councilwoman Jan Perry announced that the Augustus F. Hawkins Natural Park broke ground last month on a one-acre wetland feature. The 9-acre South Los Angeles Wetland Park at 54th and Avalon, once the site of a former MTA bus yard, "will serve as an urban oasis, education center, and passive recreational nature center."
