Safety Fair Saturday at LATT

Free services to families and demonstrations from over 20 local organizations and agencies ranging from road, train, bike, and fire safety to the Child I.D. Program.

Street Closures Sunday for the Prostate Cancer 5K

This Sunday, November 6th, USC will host the 2nd Annual L.A. Prostate Cancer 5K race which will begin at 8:30 a.m.  This event will result in the following street closures from 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.:

 

ON CAMPUS

34th Street from McClintock Avenue east to Figueroa Street (Lots V and M enter on Jefferson Boulevard only)

Watt Way from Downey Way south to Exposition Boulevard (Gate 1 closed during the aforementioned time)

Expo Line picks up speed - up to four tains on the tracks at once



Please be advised there may be an increased frequency of trains running on the Expo Line tracks from this point forward.

 

WHAT:          Up to four (4) trains may be running on the Expo Line tracks

Fire Fighters v. Police Officers in Los Angeles: Charity Basketball Game at USC Saturday



The LAPD and LAFD will be holding a KIDS SAFETY FESTIVAL and CHARITY BASKETBALL GAME on Saturday, June 25th from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the USC Galen Center, 3400 S. Figueroa Street.  Over 3,000 kids and families are expected to participate. Admission is FREE.

Testing the Expo Line this week, do not ride bikes on the tracks

 

A three-car train will be tested on the new Expo Rail Line this week on the tracks from Vermont Avenue to National Boulevard from 5 to 10 p.m. today through Thursday, according to Stacy S. Yamato of Metro.

 

The train will stop at all intersections and flaggers will be present.

Expo Line Track Testing Begins Today

USC Transportation has  been advised by Expo that train testing activities are schedules to start this week and continue in the area for the next several months. Testing will take place intermittently along the light rail alignment.

Safety Tips from Metro:



·        Please obey all warning signs and traffic signals when crossing the tracks.

·        Always look both ways before crossing any street

Kid Watch Committed to Safety and Community





The Kid Watch Picnic held on June 5, 2010 at Founders Park was successful because of the strong commitment from its safety partners. USC DPS takes the lead by arriving early and making sure tables, chairs, balloons and banners are set up.

Every Thursday is take an officer to work day at Kid Watch

This year USC Kid Watch has made it a priority to arrange for police officers from the Los Angeles School Police Department, the Los Angeles Police Department and USC Department of Public Safety to visit a Family of Schools member every week.



The officers spend an hour during recess talking one on one and in groups to more than 300 kids in South Los Angeles.



The students sit in the patrol car, ask questions and take pictures with the officer.
