Testing the Expo Line this week, do not ride bikes on the tracks
A three-car train will be tested on the new Expo Rail Line this week on the tracks from Vermont Avenue to National Boulevard from 5 to 10 p.m. today through Thursday, according to Stacy S. Yamato of Metro.
The train will stop at all intersections and flaggers will be present.
Please follow these important Safety Tips:
- Please obey ALL warning signs and traffic signals when crossing the tracks.
- Always look both ways before crossing the street.
- NEVER walk on railroad tracks.
- Watch for trains from both directions.
- Use the crosswalks.
- Do not jaywalk across the tracks or use the tracks as a shortcut.
Since April, Metro Safety Ambassadors have witnessed bicyclists along Flower Street riding on the Expo train tracks.
"As you can imagine, this behavior is extremely dangerous---since April, Metro trains have been on the tracks in various areas on the Expo Line for testing," Yamato said. "Everyone needs to follow safe behaviors and obey all traffic signs and signals."
