The Fourth of July fireworks at USC/Expo Park among the best in the city

 Celebrate the 4th of July at the LA Coliseum. The 10th annual Los Angeles Coliseum show begins at 9 p.m. on the east lawn. Kids' activities will begin at 1:30 p.m. and music and giveaways from KJLH radio will start at 3 p.m.

Traffic closures for Expo Line celebration and March of Dimes

Due to the dedication and grand opening of the Exposition Metro Rail line on Friday, April 27, 2012 and Saturday, April 28, 2012 along with the March of Dimes for Babies walk also on Saturday, April 28, 2012, the below streets will be closed to vehicular traffic:

Expo Boulevard closed on Monday around USC

Due to the re-blacktopping of Exposition Boulevard, we can expect Exposition Boulevard from Figueroa west to Vermont to be closed on Monday, Nov. 21, between 7 am and 1 pm.

Expo Line picks up speed - up to four tains on the tracks at once



Please be advised there may be an increased frequency of trains running on the Expo Line tracks from this point forward.

 

WHAT:          Up to four (4) trains may be running on the Expo Line tracks

 

WHERE:       Between 23rd St. (at Flower St.) and Western Ave. (at Exposition Blvd.)

Expo LIne ventialtion testing

According to the LA Daily News, smoke may be seen coming from the Expo Line near USC Wednesday and Thursday but said the ventilation system is just being tested.



Testing started about 9 a.m. in the trench running from Jefferson Boulevard and Flower Street to the Expo Park/USC Station at Exposition Boulevard, Jose Ubaldo of Metro told the LA Daily news.

Testing the Expo Line this week, do not ride bikes on the tracks

 

A three-car train will be tested on the new Expo Rail Line this week on the tracks from Vermont Avenue to National Boulevard from 5 to 10 p.m. today through Thursday, according to Stacy S. Yamato of Metro.

 

The train will stop at all intersections and flaggers will be present.

Expo Line Lives; Light Rail Train takes to the tracks in University Park



The Expo Line light rail won’t begin service until the fall, but the track likely will be sporting some vehicles by the end of March. So the message is safety first.



Vehicles will be testing the track, clearances and the safety devices from Flower Street at Jefferson Boulevard onto Exposition Boulevard south of the USC University Park campus, according to Jose Ubaldo of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Expo Line Track Testing Begins Today

USC Transportation has  been advised by Expo that train testing activities are schedules to start this week and continue in the area for the next several months. Testing will take place intermittently along the light rail alignment.

He will speak at the University of Southern California October 22 at 1:30 on USC's University Park Campus.

Jazz in Leimert and then Fireworks in Expo Park on the Fourth of July

Celebrate our country's birthday right!



I've seen fireworks from the Colorado St. bridge in Pasadena for the Rose Bowl show, from the deck of a home in the Palos Verdes hills to see Carson's Home Depot

and San Pedro's Queen Mary, from Ballona Creek for Culver City and

from the new Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook for a 360 degree view (and it was fantastic).



Still nothing beats laying back on a blanket in Christmas Tree Lane
