Upward Bound brings smiles to elementary students

Creating social change- Traditionally, Upward Bound (UB) is known for providing participants with academic advisement, college tours, enrichment courses and much more. UB is ensuring students become more cultural oriented by a community service component to our rigorous program. Thus, on Saturday November 21, 2009, USC Upward Bound students and staff partnered, with the City Year Organization and participated in the Service day “Community Beautification” Day at Florence Avenue Elementary. The City Year is a national non-profit organization built on the belief that young people can change the world. Students from Fremont, Los Angeles, Santee Educational Complex and Jefferson High School united together to paint various murals and bring a vivid learning environment to many elementary
students. Students described the event as “fun and productive.”
