For the USC and Exposition Park neighborhoods in Los Angeles
From Trust South LA - Ride to the Watts Towers this weekend as Ciclavia and TRUST South LA create a crowdsourced map of the city and do a route exploration for the next citywide Ciclavia.
Starting at 10am on Sunday, January 22, riders will meet at Augustus Hawkins Natural Park. After a bike fitting and maintenance workshop sponsored by Bikerowave and CICLE, the group will take off across the city, winding their way to the Watts Towers.
Along the way, participants are encouraged to bring cell phones and cameras to take pictures, send text messages, and record voice messages about the city they're discovering on their bicycles. USC Annenberg's Mobile Lab (in partnership with the Metamorphosis project) will turn these snapshots of the city into a map that will encourage cycling both as a culture and as a way to see the best of South LA neighborhoods.
Once at the Watts Towers, the Eastside Riders will lead a bike tour of the community, featuring the Watts Labor Community Action Center and adding another layer of texture to the mapping project.
The event is hosted by CicLAvia South LA Host Committee and T.R.U.S.T. South LA. Read more at Intersections, and on the Facebook Event Page.
