For the USC and Exposition Park neighborhoods in Los Angeles
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. A Tribute in Song celebrates Dr. King through a multimedia presentation along with words and songs performed by Lura Daniels-Ball, an alumna of USC’s world-renowned Thornton School of Music.
Essentially, MLK: A Tribute in Song takes the audience on a musical journey highlighting the milestones of Dr. King’s legendary life that ended too soon almost 44 years ago on April 4, 1968.
The 31st Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Celebration will be held on Thursday, January 19, at noon on the campus of USC in the Bovard Auditorium. The event is FREE and parking is $6.00 for guest. The event is open to the public.
The Black Staff and Faculty Caucus host the 31st Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration.
The event is directed by famed filmmaker, Charles Burnett (To Sleep with Anger, Namibia: The Struggle for Liberation).
Written by J.M. Morris -- a former King Center National Scholar and intern for Mrs. King – MLK: A Tribute in Song was inspired by her stage trilogy presented for three consecutive years in recognition of the King Holiday. The three entries in the series were: The Content of Their Character; The Content of Their Character: Courage; and The Content of Their Character: Religion.
The Executive Producers for the project are Heartsung Productions, JES III Productions and Thinkin’ Outta The Box Productions. The event’s accompanist is Danny Burgin.
