Chichen Itza chef, one of Jonathan Gold's essential 99, cookbook signing and celebration at Mercado la Paloma

Sabores Yucatecos: A Culinary Tour of the Yucatán is the latest offering from celebrated Chef Gilberto Cetina, who gave us Chichen Itza restaurant in Mercado la Paloma near Exposition Park.

Long a Jonathan Gold favorite because of signature dishes like cochinita pibil, the restaurant has stepped its presentation and its offerings of late, perhaps because of the competition from a new Jonathan Gold favorite, Mo Chica, a Peruvain restaurant that has taken the Mercado restaurant incubator concept upscale.

With more than 140 recipes, easy-to-follow instructions and 120 photo, the book is authored by Cetina, long-standing community pillar and host of the radio show Canto Tropical Kathy Diaz, and Gilberto Cetina Jr.

It is said to be the first English-language cookbook on Yucatán's cuisine by a chef from the Yucatán. It has four and a half stars on Yelp!

Join Chef Cetina and Kathy and Gilberto Jr. Wednesday, March 14, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Chichen Itzá Restaurant (in Mercado La Paloma)
