For the USC and Exposition Park neighborhoods in Los Angeles
Reverend Al Sharpton, host of MSNBC's PoliticsNation delivered a searing keynote address at the 20th Anniversary Empowerment Congress Summit this Martin Luther King Jr. weekend. Invited to speak by Empowerment Congress Founder, Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, Sharpton exhorted the standing-room only crowd in USC's Bovard auditorium to honor Dr. King's memory by fighting both right-wing assaults and left-wing apathy in order to preserve civil rights that were won with blood and struggle. "This election is not about Obama; it's about your Mama," he quipped. Press play above to view the most inspiring, dynamic (and funny) speech made this weekend in honor Dr. King's birthday.
