The 15th annual Central Avenue Jazz Festival filled South Los Angeles with song this weekend with legendary Roy Gaines and Grammy nominated Bobby Rodriguez.
And even in spectacle, music is so personal as photohami reports on YouTube.
He/she went to Central Ave. yesterday to see Ernie Andrews.
"I first met him in the living room of Aunt Bunny. I also met Gerry Wiggins and Papa John Creach there. Aunt Bunny was my connection to the LA jazz scene.
Aunt Bunny knew a lot about music. I still remember the day that I loaded up an iPod with her favorite jazz music and gave it to her. We had a great time that day, listening to Ella, Sara Vaughn & her fave... The Wig [Gerald Wiggins].
She has been hospitalized for nearly a month. That's the first thing that I mentioned to Ernie Andrews yesterday. I was hoping to tell her about the day on Central Avenue.
I did not get that chance. Aunt Bunny passed away this evening. She saw so much in her 93 years... I remember her excitement the morning after the Obama victory. This video is posted in her memory."
