Acclaimed Jazz Musician Jeff Parker
Versatile Guitarist and Cornerstone of Jazz Scene will
Make His Debut at Historic Venue
Metro Art presents a performance by acclaimed jazz guitarist Jeff Parker on Thursday, October 19, from 8 to 10 p.m. in the Historic Ticketing Hall at Union Station. Parker will be accompanied by a three-piece band performing alto saxophone, keyboards, bass guitar, synthesizer, drums and a sampler.
Celebrated as an experimental musician in the rock, jazz, avant garde and electronic genres, Parker is best known for his work with the groundbreaking indie band, Tortoise. Renowned in the Chicago jazz scene before relocating to Los Angeles in 2013, he collaborated with many musicians, including George Lewis, Ernest Dawkins, Brian Blade, Joshua Redman, Fred Anderson and Jason Moran. In 2016 Parker released his first recordings under his own name since 2012, the well-received “Slight Freedom” and “The New Breed.”
