Trekking LA will guide tour goers with opportunities to experience the Leimert Park’s rich cultural legacy through history, food, and live music.
Highlightsl include:
• walking tour of the neighborhood
• mouth-watering samples of Creole and Jamaican food
• the unveiling of a new mural created by local artists and Crenshaw High School students
• World Stage Jazz Festival, a thrilling showcase of the hottest jazz talent from the dynamic World Stage performance gallery and beyond. An optional activity at the end of the day will be participation in the area’s famous Sunday afternoon drum circle; if you own a percussive instrument, bring it along and join the fun!
Street Food + World Stage Jazz Festival in Leimert Park

The World Stage has quietly established itself as one of the great cultural centers in Los Angeles. For the last twenty years it has hosted great musicians, workshops and its signature event every August, the World Stage Jazz Festival (link to below). On August 9th Trekking LA will continue exploring LA’s global street food in Leimert Park tasting some of the most authentic Jamaican and Creole street food in the city and walking through the Olmsted designed neighborhood that was once home to Ella Fitzgerald and Ray Charles. We look forward to trekking with you!

10:30a- The World Stage (meet the owner and learn about the history of this LA gem)
11:00a- Walking tour of Leimert Park (including special access to galleries+ architectural history)
11:30a- Jamaican and Creole street food tastings + Q/A with chefs
12:00p- Unveiling of Leimert Park Gateway Mural (link to below)
1:00p- Lunch at the World Stage Jazz Festival
