ABOUT University Park Family.com:

University Park Family.com, the virtual newspaper and social network, was created in concert with the University of Southern California Civic and Community Relations.

While the the print product circulates among the USC Family of Schools, the online effort serves the residents and students surrounding USC and Expo Park with news and information both for the community and by the community.

It's a place where you can find out more about your neighborhood and a platform for your voice to be heard. You don't just have a homepage, you can post on the front page where hundreds of people stop and stare every month. Please join the conversation!

University Park Family.com is like having your own blog for your poetry, your public service club, your band or the people who shop at your store. Except this audience is bigger than just the people you know.

Members and guests of University Park Family.com are connected by geography. Many live right around the corner, a block from where you buy your orange juice. Perhaps you pass by them at the farmer's market.
Some spend the better part of their day working here. Others spend their their weekends eating at the restaurants, visiting family, seeing plays, watching football.

University Park Family.com, launched in April 2009, already is the best source of information about the neighborhoods surrounding USC and Exposition Park.

You can help make it better by adding a comment to stories, uploading a photo of an event or just saying hello.

The story behind the “Reyes Magos” comes from the bible. I remember celebrating this day as a child. The way we do it in our family, is by eating the famous “Rosca” which is sweetbread in the shape of an oval with fruit on top and drink hot chocolate. Inside the Rosca we hide a small toy (a baby) which symbolizes baby Jesus. We cut the Rosca just as you would cut a cake and whoever gets the Baby Jesus has to do a party (lol) we also give gifts to each other. I know there’s more to this story than the way my family celebrates, but this is the way we have done it for years.
