Billy Childs and I are bringing it home. The World Stage is where I cut my poetry chops. There are word giants there who were willing to call out the clichés and other bullshit lines and ideas in my early work. Kamou, Datcher Datcher, V Kali, Ruth Forman, Peter J. Harris, Inyesha, Ojenke, Priestly were just some of the major influences in my growth. I'm gratefully for them all. "High on the vine." - PC

About the band:
"With the collaboration of pianist-composer and four-time Grammy Award-winner Billy Childs, poet Paul Calderon, bassist Ben Shepherd, and drummer Donald Barrett, PROPHECY transcends the words and music tradition of the Last Poets, Gil Scott-Heron, the Watts Prophets and others. With Billy Childs on electric piano and synthesizer, PROPHECY frames Calderon's insightful, socially conscious verse and is an innovative mixture of theater, jazz-funk, and fusion." - BC
