For the USC and Exposition Park neighborhoods in Los Angeles
Debbie Martinez is the fourth daughter in her family to graduate from the University of Southern California TRIO progam, and the fourth to go to college. All four Martinez daughters, together with two grandmothers who flew to Los Angeles from El Salvador, came to witness Debbie's graduation from the 32nd Street/ USC Visual and Performing Arts Magnet School. The USC TRIO programs, which include three Upward Bound programs and the Upward Bound Math/Science unit, serve more than 2,000 students attending four middle schools and 12 high schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Nearly 80 percent of high school seniors who complete their participation in USC TRIO go on to pursue a college education.
