Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles is having a Tasting Bee, Saturday March 16, from 10 am to 1 pm at Foshay Learning Center, 3751 South Harvard Blvd. North of Exposition Blvd and east Western Ave.
There are 15 troops representing different countries from around the world. Each 4 oz. taste costs just 50 cents- an inexpensive way to broaden your taste (buds). The West Adams troop will be representing Thailand.
There will be performances/presentations during the day. There are restrooms available. All ages are invited. All proceeds go to local Girl Scout troops.
This is second year for Daisy/Brownie West Adams Troop 3725. Last year they started with just six girls- Kindergarten through 2
nd grade. This year they have 11 girls- 1
st through 3
rd. Each girl has a parent has joined Girl Scouts as a volunteer. The parents all share the responsibility of being leaders and sharing their talents with all the girls.
Last year the girls learned about water conservation through one of the Girl Scout “Journeys” and chose Japan as the country to represent at last year’s Tasting Bee. They donated half of their cookie earnings to our local animal shelter. This year the girls have learned about nature, hiking, camping basics, sewing, safety, first aid, emergency preparedness, and cooking The girls will vote again for another organization to benefit from the girl’s cookie sales.
