For the USC and Exposition Park neighborhoods in Los Angeles
(Los Angeles, CA; Sept. 25, 2013) – The Perlman Foundation is pleased to announce that it is accepting submissions for its Second Annual Bridging the Gap Awards, a matching grant that assists smaller sized charitable organizations who exemplify the Perlman Foundation’s mission. This funding opportunity targets organizations that use innovative methods to positively impact individuals living in low-income communities. Recipients will be awarded a one-time, unrestricted, matching donation between $5,000 and $20,000 to further their mission. Recipients will also become eligible for other Perlman Foundation initiatives, such as the My Future College Scholarship.
In order to qualify for the Bridging the Gap Awards, organizations must have an annual budget that between $25,000 and $500,000, operate in AL, CA, FL, GA, OH, NC, PA, SC, TN or TX and be change-makers in the areas of education; the arts; mentorship; college preparation; civic engagement; family and parental development; literacy; youth leadership and development; or neighborhood beautification. This unrestricted matching donation is designed to help smaller sized non-profits build their capacity through gap funding and donor base expansion.
“The Perlman Foundation recognizes that impacting a community is more than just providing funding. It’s about building partnerships and working together to have a greater impact,” explains Shaun-Teka Joyner, Executive Director of the Perlman Foundation. “Many of our first year BGA winners referred students to our scholarship program, which grew to over 50 college scholarships to deserving high school seniors.”
The Perlman Foundation will determine the donation amount based on an assessment of each organization’s capacity and needs. To apply for the Bridging the Gap award, or to learn more, please visit the Perlman Foundation’s website at: www.perlmanfoundation.org or contact Rhonda Kidd at rkidd@perlmanfoundation.org.
