From the neighbors who brought you Kid Watch and the Neighborhood Academic Initiative.
They play basketball with your daughter and teach your son math.
Now they bring you, Meet Your Neighbor Day.
They are the
USC Government and Civic Engagment and they are hosting an Open House. at 3 p.m. on Saturday. The corner of 28th and Hoover.
Please RSVP because there are TRAMS and Refreshment. This is no ordinary meet and greet, we're going to see the landmarks that make us proud to live and work and go to school here while talking to our neighbors, ones we know and ones we should.
Many of these destinations are places with their own Wikipedia page and a history to match.
From FAME Church, where Ray Charles had his great sendoff, to Mercado La Paloma, home to not one but two Essential LA winners (chosen by Pulitzer Prize winner Jonathan Gold.)
But then there's St. Vincent, with it magnificent architecture and the incomparable Exposition Park that houses the California Science Center, The California African American Museum, the LA County Natural History Museum, the best pool in the city at the Expo Center, a soccer field where the grass is always green and of course the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, home of the Trojans.
And pardon the dust on Exposition Boulevard, that's where the new light rail is scheculed to be running by this time next year from downtown to Culver City.
