LA Sentinel: With the pouring of cement at what will be the Expo Park / USC Station along the long-awaited Exposition Light Rail Line, the entire South Los Angeles community moved even closer to having the modern transportation system that it desperately needs.
"Expo Park / USC Station would significantly enhance mobility to this important part of downtown. The stakeholders in this area will benefit greatly from these public improvements," said Councilmember Bernard C. Parks in the March 2009 story.
The Expo Line will run below street level from Flower Street and surface at Expo Park / USC Station (near the main entrance to USC). The station is expected to open in 2010.
Last month the California Public Utilities Commission approved the Expo Line
crossing near Foshay Learning Center, where there is already a pedestrian tunnel the tracks would go over, but will require that a pedestrian bridge is built at Dorsey High School.
The 8.5 mile Expo Line will connect downtown Los Angeles and Culver City.
