A Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market grocery store is slated to open around either December or January in University Gateway, according to the Daily Trojan.

The new housing complex with ground floor retail at Jefferson and Figueroa already has a CVS and several restaurants.

Now Superior Grocers in University Village and Ralph's on Vermont and Adams are the only grocery stores. Residents have been calling for more options, ones that include more fresh fruits and vegetables.

Construction of the store, which will be the fourth in the Los Angeles area, began last week, the Daily Trojan reported, citing officials at University Gateway.

USC plans to build a new shopping center called the Village at USC to replace the aging University Village.
