"Together we envision an annual Earth Day event where community residents in South Central come together in a safe environment to have fun, celebrate our foods and cultures, learn about and participate in sustainable practices, and connect with each other and organizations working to make positive change in our neighborhood.

Our theme this year, air for life, is a reflection of the growing concern about the contamination of the air we breathe." -   Community Services Unlimited Inc.

This is a plastic water bottle free event, please bring water bottles if you have them, water stations with paper cups will be available at the event

Call for Volunteers!

We are seeking volunteers to help out with EDSLA 2012. It has been our experience that is difficult to use the time of volunteers well, when they show up on the day of the event for their first interaction with us. We ask that you either be a seasoned CSU volunteer (someone we know and have worked with) or that you attend the CSU work day on March 31st April 7th or April 13th all of which will be held at the event venue and will include an orientation for those who will volunteer on the day of the event. If you want to volunteer on the day of the event but cannot attend either of the workdays please call or email as below to arrange a volunteer opportunity and orientation during the two weeks leading up to EDSLA 2012.

RSVP: LD@csuinc.org (preferred), or 310 780 0426

Address for all events listed: Normandie Ave Elementary School
4505 S. Raymond Ave, LA, CA 90045. Enter the school from the Vernon gate located just east of Normandie.

Saturday April 7th – 9am to 2pm

What we’ll be doing:

1. Local outreach with event fliers; don’t worry if this is your first time with this kind of activity, you will first be trained and orientated and sent out in a team that includes someone with experience.

2. Preparing walls for murals

3. Miscellaneous preparation for EDSLA such as sign spruce up
