A selection of USC Roski School of Fine Arts students will be featured in a new show at
Hold Up Art. The preview party features live music provided by
DJ Lauren Cary and Korean taco truck Bool BBQ from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday April 30 at Hold Up Art in Downtown’s Little Tokyo district gallery, 358 East 2nd Street.
Half the proceeds of the event will be directly donated to
USC Neighborhood Outreach, which is giving out more than $1 million to community programs this year.
The Spectrum Spectacle focuses on 10 promising young artists all pushing
the fields of two dimensional art, from painting, to printmaking:
Martin Benson,
Janelle Carbajal
Leslie Flores
Theo Goldrach
Maria Greschenko
Chuck Hohng
Joseph Sharaf
Maran Smith
Eron Surdam
Jen Wohlner
Many of the artists
are influenced by abstract, surreal, and expressionist schools of
thought with a wide range or color.
USC Roski School artist Martin Benson says "Hold Up Art strives to re-evaluate the role that contemporary galleries
and art institutions play within society. Curating exhibitions of
working Pop Urban artists, Hold Up offers a revitalized environment for
dialogue between artist and audience."
