Living Up to the Legacy of Labor:

I hope you’re well & enjoying the long weekend. I think it’s important that we all celebrate Labor Day today - not just as a day to spend w/ friends & family, but to also recognize the importance of the American labor movement.

Many of the rights we now enjoy universally were earned w/ the sacrifices made by American workers.

The movement led by these workers, who organized for the fair recognition of their humanity & the worth of their labor, faced formidable opponents who saw them only as cogs in a machine.

They picketed & made their voices heard. Some gave blood for the cause of human dignity. & now, we are better as a country because of them.

That, if anything, is worth a day of thanks & recognition.

President Kennedy once said that the American labor movement has consistently demonstrated its devotion to the public interest, & that it is, & has been, good for all Americans.

He was right. Those words continue to ring true.

We are standing on the shoulders of giants who helped build this country, & it is our obligation to them that we continue to work towards an economy that puts our humanity 1st.

Today, union participation is at an all-time low. Union rights are frequently under siege.

At the same time, we are experiencing a time of unprecedented income inequality. It has put families in impossible situations when an unexpected bill arrives. In this pandemic, conditions have only turned for the worst.

The rise of automation is devastating the ranks of our workforce, leaving many w/ cut hours or no paycheck @ all during a time of uncertainty. Many who lose their jobs to robots, software & AI don’t know where they will go next.

Nobody should have to resign themselves to feeling left behind when technology replaces their job.

Nobody who works full time should have to decide between rationing medication & keeping the power on @ home.

Nobody should have to face these crises alone. It’s what compels workers to organize & create a better future.

We can do a lot better for our workers. One great place to start is by passing a Universal Basic Income.

A UBI would help make us all stronger, healthier, less stressed out & better able to adapt & address the challenges of the 21st century economy.

It would give us all room to breathe - something many are desperate for right now.

& it would recognize the dignity & worth of all work. It would be a signal from our country that an “essential” worker is exactly that - essential.

Let’s live up to the legacy of the labor movement. Let’s continue to move forward.

Yours truly,
-Andrew Yang

What I’ll speak about tonight @ the DNC:
Tonight, I am delivering a difficult truth that America needs to hear.

In my address to the Democratic National Convention, you should expect to hear about an America that has been knocked down by crisis - but not knocked out.

Here’s the link to watch my remarks this evening: https://www.demconvention.com/watch-the-convention

The trends I warned America about during my campaign have only accelerated in the past few months.

Millions have lost jobs or had work hours cut and don’t know when relief will come. Teachers & parents are struggling to find answers on how to safely educate our kids. An eviction crisis is looming & we still do not have this pandemic under control.

W/ exactly 74 days to go until the election, this is the reality we have to remember. We must remember that this is not normal & that we can choose a new way forward.

We’re going to do that w/ Joe Biden & Kamala Harris on the Democratic ticket. They understand the problems we face & can help guide us to an abundant future.

The same can be said about our Humanity Forward candidates who are running in very close races right now.

One notable Humanity Forward candidate is Adam Christensen, who won his primary this week for Congress in Florida’s 3rd district. Adam is running for Congress to succeed Ted Yoho; if that rings a bell, Ted has made headlines recently for the wrong reasons. Adam is for Universal Basic Income and is exactly the kind of forward-thinking leader we need in Congress.

Adam is joining several of our primary-winning candidates who now face incredibly tight races in November. Our team of forward-thinking leaders & activists is giving it their all, but it’s going to be a tough fight.

That’s why we’ve set a new goal - to boost our candidates by donating $75,000 to their campaigns by the end of the week.

I hope you tune in tonight to hear about the future we can achieve in the next 74 days. What we do between now & November will decide if that can become our reality.

Let’s move forward.

Hi;

Tuesday, we got some big news -- Kamala Harris will be Joe Biden’s Vice Presidential nominee.

It’s news that gives me excitement & hope for our future & here’s why:

When I was running for president, I told voters that if I didn’t win, a lot of people would start sounding a lot like me.

That didn’t come from a place of vanity -- it came from understanding that we struck a chord w/ the American people on our message of moving humanity forward.

Since then, we’ve seen the government put money in the hands of Americans who are struggling and UBI reach record heights in polling.

And now, w/ my friend Kamala on the Democratic ticket, we have a VP nominee who favors direct cash payments to Americans.

One thing I admire about both Joe Biden & Kamala Harris is that they are smart enough to recognize good ideas that come from other people & other places.

That’s where we come into play.

The Humanity Forward PAC is here for one reason: to cut checks to the candidates who will have our best interests at heart.

Senator Harris has previously called on Congress to pass $2,000 monthly relief checks to Americans -- & we can’t wait to see her work to make that plan a reality in the White House.

A more diverse, more progressive & more human-centered future is exactly what Americans need right now.

We know that Kamala is about to come under a lot of scrutiny from opponents - & while that is expected, a lot of it will be unfair.  We’re more interested in what you’ll do next.

Are you w/ us in our fight to replace Trump & Pence in November?

Make your voice heard now:

Will you help us send Biden and Harris to the White House?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,
Andrew Yang

I hope you are doing well.

As I'm writing this, the Senate is weighing a new stimulus bill that should have been passed months ago. Why is it that Congress can't come to the table & get their job done?

It infuriates me because I know how much people are suffering out there. Tens of millions of Americans don't know how they're going to pay for next month's rent.

I'm reaching out today to tell you about two candidates who I know would do the right thing for us if given the opportunity.

It is my honor to endorse Adam Christensen running for Congress in Florida's 3rd District & Thearse McCalmon running for state Senate in New York's 49th District.

A graphic showing Humanity Forward's endorsement of Adam Christensen

Adam is a small-business owner & entrepreneur in Gainesville, Florida who started a product testing business. He looked at the candidates in the field & believed he had something to offer - & voters agree. Adam has generated a lot of excitement, especially among young people in his district & those who have felt left out of politics. He is running for Congress to succeed Ted Yoho. If that name rings a bell, Ted has made headlines recently for the wrong reasons. Adam is for Universal Basic Income & is exactly the kind of forward-thinking leader we need in Congress.

A graphic showing Humanity Forward's endorsement of Thearse McCalmon
Thearse is running for state Senate in the city where I was born – Schenectady, NY. Thearse recently ran for mayor of Schenectady & came w/in dozens of votes of upsetting the incumbent. She is a mom & former nurse fighting for her community. She won her state Senate primary because people realize that she is in their corner. As someone who has experienced homelessness in her life, Thearse understands the importance of creating a human-centered society. Her opponent is a 70 year-old incumbent who is on the wrong side of many issues in Albany.

I hope you will join me in supporting these great candidates. Please consider donating to their campaigns - every little bit helps in these races. Adam & Thearse are joining our phenomenal list of Humanity Forward endorsees; I am excited to see them in positions where they can make a difference for all of us.

Let's get the right people into office.

- Andrew

Subject: What you just did -
A few days ago, I reached out to you for help. And you answered the call.

Thanks to you, we smashed our fundraising goal - so THANK YOU!

You just joined us in taking a key step forward toward a new government that values the inherent worth of humanity.

Our success is proof we’re on the right track & sends a message to the world that UBI (& other forward-thinking policies) demand to be taken seriously.

Want to know what else sends a message? That fact that, w/ your help, we’ve been able to endorse 20 candidates up and down the ballot - over a third of whom have already won their primary elections.

And, because of our success in this fundraising push, we can now fight harder than ever before.

I can’t wait until the leaders your donations help elect get a chance to amplify your voice across all levels of government. Of course, the biggest prize of all would be to have an ally in the White House - & I hope you click the short video below to get my thoughts on the work to come.

A smiling Andrew Yang prepares to address viewers from his home.

Remaking Washington won’t happen overnight. Instead, it’ll be a series of small, incremental victories like this one. So let’s dig into the work ahead.

And, let’s continue to move forward. Together.

Last night, Humanity Forward candidate Donna Imam won her primary runoff election! She is now the Democratic nominee in Texas' 31st congressional district in Austin & will face 17-year Republican incumbent John Carter in November. In 2018, MJ Hegar (who is now the Democratic nominee for Senate in Texas) lost the district by less than 3 points. In 2020, with our help, Donna will win & become one of the biggest political stories in the country.

Donna is the real deal. She is one of the most solutions-oriented candidates I've ever spoken to, which is no surprise as she's an engineer & entrepreneur. Years ago, Donna saw hundreds of her colleagues laid off due to automation. She led a non-profit to help equip people for the transition. Today, she's fighting to make sure we have an economy that works for everyone. I met Donna early in 2019 at a campaign event in Austin. She spoke w/ the same eloquence & understanding then as she does now. Check out this picture from that event!

Donna understands why we need a Universal Basic Income. She will be our champion in Congress. I am asking every single one of you to support her as you supported me. Please rush a donation to Donna right now. We're going to replace a 78-year-old incumbent who has been in D.C. for nearly 20 years w/ little to show for it w/ a young, dynamic, human-centered legislator who is looking out for the people!

Next up are Marilyn Strickland for Congress in Washington & Jen Perelman for Congress in Florida! Check them out & our other candidates here. Let's get Donna some company & continue to grow the wave.

We have swung state-level races w/ Jermaine Johnson & Jeremy Cooney. We are now demonstrating that we can do the same at a Congressional level. W/ a few more nights like last night there will be no limit to what our movement can accomplish.

I am pumped for Donna, and I hope that you are too! Let's celebrate Donna's victory & build on her success. There's no time to lose. Let's win.
