On Thursday, May 2, the Empowerment Congress NANDC neighborhood council voted to award a $2,000 grant to ECCLA's 22nd Annual Teacher Awards.  We honor K-12 educators who go above and beyond the call of duty at an elegant event at the Natural History Museum of L.A. Need money for college? ECCLA is awarding higher education scholarships of $1,000 to 12th grade students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher enrolled in high schools within the ECCLA boundaries.

Completed and signed applications and all required items must be received at the ECCLA office no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 12^th, 2013, or postmarked that date.

County has some very exciting news they are bursting to share—their School Programs team has recently received a grant to fund bus transportation to the NHM and Page Museum (La Brea Tar Pits) for Title 1 schools in L.A. ECCLA is pleased to announce that this year, a total of 18 schools, 551 students, and 31 teachers participated in our fall essay contest, "What I Want Most that Money Can't Buy." The preliminary rounds are in session and the final judging rounds will take place at the end of this month.
