Kid Watch and the Community



Kid Watch has over 800 volunteer members that live in the USC community. Being part of Kid Watch builds the sense of community among neighbors who might not otherwise get to know each other. These volunteers provide the eyes and ears on the street that help neighborhood children feel safe as they travel to and from one of the USC Family of Schools.

Cold fruits and veggies may soon be available at your corner market: City loans businesses money to buy refrigerators

The City's redevelopment Agency is planning to offer loans to convenience stores to buy refrigerators so they can sell more fruits and vegetables, reports Howard Fine in labusinessjournal.com

Relive the Central Avenue Jazz Festival! In memory of Aunty Bunny, RIP.

The 15th annual Central Avenue Jazz Festival filled South Los Angeles with song this weekend with legendary Roy Gaines and Grammy nominated Bobby Rodriguez.

Kid Watch Committed to Safety and Community





The Kid Watch Picnic held on June 5, 2010 at Founders Park was successful because of the strong commitment from its safety partners. USC DPS takes the lead by arriving early and making sure tables, chairs, balloons and banners are set up.

Town Hall meeting on state budget at Science Center in Expo Park

Assemblyman Mike Davis organized a town hall on the 2010 California Budget on Saturday, July 24, from 9 am to 1 pm at the California Science Center, Annenberg Center Muses Room.



As the state is facing historic shortfalls feuding over ideologies has caused a budget stalemate to the point that the Gov. Jazz in Leimert and then Fireworks in Expo Park on the Fourth of July

Celebrate our country's birthday right!



I've seen fireworks from the Colorado St. bridge in Pasadena for the Rose Bowl show, from the deck of a home in the Palos Verdes hills to see Carson's Home Depot

and San Pedro's Queen Mary, from Ballona Creek for Culver City and

from the new Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook for a 360 degree view (and it was fantastic).
