NAI Dental Camp 2010

On March 20, 2010, seventy-five 8th grade NAI Saturday Academy students participated in the annual NAI Dental Camp sponsored by the California Dental Association and the USC Ostrow School of Dentistry. These students participated in four hands-on activities to discover what it takes to be dentist, dentist hygienist, dental assistant and dental laboratory technician. The Pumpkin in the Garden

I just got 12 new kids in the program, 3 of whom I have wanted for a long time.

They live in Algeria. They have been watching me for years, with shy, wistful eyes.

Their father is an alcoholic who beats them and their mother, who in turn beats them.

Now they are in my class and happy children for at least a small time.
