Obama's coming to Expo Park! But for most of us, we'll notice the traffic the most

The President of the United States Barack Obama will visit Exposition Park on Monday evening, April 19.  Several streets around University Park and Expo Park will be closed or experience heavier traffic than usual - Thanks for the notice Trojans Alert!

The following streets will be closed between 5:15pm and 9:15pm:

Figueroa Street between Exposition Blvd and Martin Luther King Blvd

Exposition Blvd between Figueroa and Vermont

Flower Street between Exposition Blvd and 38th Street/Figueroa

Figueroa Street (southbound) between McCarthy Way (Gate 3) and Exposition

During this closure period, the campus entrances at Gates 1 (Exposition & Watt Way) and Gate 2 (Exposition & Pardee Way) will be closed to all vehicles entering or exiting.  Vehicles parked in Lot 5 or the Childs Way Lot will be able to exit campus, either at old Gate 2 onto Figueroa or via a special route that will be set up from the Childs Way Lot to Gate 3.  All other campus entrances which are normally open during this period will remain open.

Vehicles parked in Parking Structure 1 (PS1), Credit Union parking lot, and Tuscany Apartments garage will be able to exit during this closure period, but they must exit onto 37th Place or Flower Street, proceed north on Flower to Exposition, then east on Exposition to enter the 110 Freeway or continue east on Exposition out of the area.

This advisory has been prepared based on information available as of late Friday, April 16.  Any changes made on Monday will be sent via Transportation email.

Make travel plans accordingly so you can best enjoy the pride in knowing President Obama cares enough not just to visit California, or even Los Angeles, but he cares enough that he is visiting South Los Angeles - Exposition ....
