USC Rossier School of Education Dean Karen Symms Gallagher was honored by the Los Angeles Urban League Oct. 2 for her commitment to social justice and her work as a founding Greater Crenshaw Educational Partnership board member.
The Greater Crenshaw Educational Partnership was formed in 2007 as an academically informed, neighborhood-based approach to improving educational outcomes. The partnership connects Crenshaw High School
students to the Los Angeles Urban League’s Neighborhoods@Work, the USC
Rossier School of Education’s resources and programs, and the Bradley
Foundation’s leadership training programs.
Though the graduation rate has increased nearly 30 percent since 2006-07, it still hovers near 52 percent. So there are still a lot of children who need extra support.
