Event Description

"Love from Jewish Kitchens" is a solo concert of original and traditional stories crafted and performed by Karen Golden. Karen has been a professional storyteller since 1986. Her stories are very funny, inspiring, outrageous and real!

Many traditional Jewish foods (not unlike southern "soul food") were the food of "common folk"  who endured severe hardships and did the best they could with what they had on hand. Modern-day versions of these traditional foods originated in the kitchens of our grandmothers becoming "family recipes" and the "must have" items on our holiday tables. Sharing these special foods with family and friends keeps our cultures alive, reminds us of "home", and helps keep us connected to our past as well as to our future. These heartwarming stories of food, love and family, remind us of the importance of family traditions and the role food plays in our celebrations and our memories of those we love.
“Love from Jewish Kitchens provides a heartwarming, food-centric journey through the Jewish Holidays, which will no doubt be very familiar for some, nostalgic for others and completely revealing to those of us who wonder, but know very little about traditional Jewish foods, the significance of certain Jewish Holidays, why it's customary to have certain foods, what the foods actually "are", how they're made and how they taste.
You can buy tickets online: http://lovefromjewishkitchens.eventbrite.com , or you may pay by cash, check or credit card at the IMA office while supplies last. Tickets are $20.00.  A catered reception will follow the program.
