   From: RISE To: "Listen Here", a monthly Jazz music program which airs the 4th Mon. of each month. Midnight, 12 a.m. to 3 a.m., Sun. night into Mon. morning. 

   "Listen Here" explores Jazz from "A" to "Z." From Armstrong to Zawinul. "Listen Here" is Jazz music for the mind, body & soul.  Hosted by Ollie Bivins, a former writer for various L.A. Jazz print publications. who has written album reviews & have interviewed well over 50 Jazz artists. Including Wayne Shorter, Archie Shepp, Sonny Rollins, Herbie Hancock, Phil Ranelin, Dwight Trible, Marilyn Crispell, Vijay Iyer Barbara Morrison, Bill Frisell, Enrico Rava (& "Bernie" Maupin ahso, inside Jo-ke aka  O-!) To name but a few. 
     Ollie grew up in the 1960's in Flint, Michigan. An auto manufacturing city sixty-five miles north of Detroit. He grew up marinated in the music of Motown. Along w/ R&B & Top 40 Pop & Rock music.
      In their homes, his parents & grandparents played such artists as Count Basie, Dinah Washington, Ray Charles, Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Sarah Vaughn, Billie Holiday, Barbra Streisand, Duke Ellington, Arthur Prysock, Lightnin' Hopkins & Howlin' Wolf. Among many others. 
     The Jazz, Rock, Pop, R&B & Brazilian music he heard all greatly shaped his musical & political consciousness growing up as a Black young man in the United States of America.
