Event Description

Always seeking new adventures, IMA is presenting an unique program for its November offering. On November 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.,  Award-winning Storyteller, Karen Rae Kraut will perform a spirited program of stories inspired by traditional European and American Southwestern folktales, with a live musical background provided by multi-instrumentalist Jay De Angelo. Karen Rae and Jay will take us on a magical journey through deep dark woods and the painted desert where we will encounter remarkable creatures of the earth, air and water. Come join us as Karen Rae brings these folktales to life, and you will gain a true appreciation of how the oral folktale tradition became the foundation for and continues to inspire live theater the world over. You don't even have to resist the urge to dance in your seats!
Karen Rae Kraut is a storyteller, variety entertainer, comedienne, singer, teaching artist and workshop presenter. She has toured California museums for the Smithsonian Institution and earned a master's degree in storytelling from East Tennessee State University.  Her storytelling/variety shows include adaptations of world folktales, music, songs, movement and her own special brand of audience participation. She has been performing her whimsical, high-energy solo shows from California to East Tennessee since 1990. Karen Rae is joined by musician Jay De Angelo on guitar and keyboard.  In addition to performing, Jay gives music instruction in numerous musical instruments, including piano,  acoustic guitar, bass and harmonica.
We'd love to have you share in the festivities and enjoy an afternoon of great entertainment.  You can buy tickets online https://deepdarkwoods.eventbrite.com , or by visiting our website: http://www.imalosangeles.com . You may also pay by  cash, check or credit card, at the IMA office, while supplies last.   Tickets for the performance are $20.00.
As is our custom at the Institute of Musical Arts, a catered reception will follow the performance. For additional information call: (323) 300-6578 or send Email to info@imalosangeles.com
