Event Description

How is the Black-Latino relationship affected by immigrant integration? The Center for the Study of Immigrant Integration seeks answers.

In an era in which immigration reform has become one of the key civil rights issues, has this unintentionally displaced a focus on challenges central to African Americans' political and economic empowerment?

Given the fears around immigrants depressing job quality, what are the real effects on black workers who are traditionally at the bottom of the wage distribution?

How can black/Latino coalitions improve economic stability for everyone? How do these coalitions work through real and perceived threats?

Why is a commitment to the advancement of the African American community at the heart of comprehensive immigration reform and immigrant integration?

Free and open to the public. But RSVP required.
Obtain ticket online. Email pere@college.usc.edu.

Moderator: Manuel Pastor, USC College professor, co-director of the Center for the Study for Immigrant Integration

Panelists:
* Ange-Marie Hancock, USC associate professor of Political Science
* Gerald Lenoir, director, Black Alliance for Just Immigration
